Francisco Javier Zamorano
CEO of Grupo CIO, Spain
Francisco Javier Zamorano, studied at the University of San Diego, and later received his degree in Business Administration from the American Collage of Switzerland. He then completed his studies with an MBA in Marketing Management and a SPM at IE Business School. He began his professional career at Group CITA as head of sponsorship, a role he held for one year. After this period, he had two periods of work experience, each one year long, in different departments of the mixed Cuban/French company COPROVA and at the company TABACALERA S.A., especially devoted to the marketing department. At the end of both trainee periods, he held the role of head of EMCADISA/COMSUNY, for seven years, combining this activity with his role as a member of the Board of Directors of Group CITA. In October 2001 he became the CEO of Group CITA and CEO of the other companies that comprise the family group. Since 2006 he has held the role of President and CEO of Grupo CIO. He currently advises de CEOE (Confederation of Employers and Industries of Spain), as a member of the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors and the General Asembly. He also is associated member of ASHOTEL (Tenerife Hotel Association); founding partner of Exceltur (Alliance for Excellence in Tourism); associated member of IEF (Family Business Institute); founding member of EFCA (Canarian Family Bussiness Association); Canary Island Vice-president of APD (Association for Management Progress) and Chairman of the Advisory Board at the European University of the Canary Islands.
